Itoya × Kamawanu Original Tenugui (Bush Warblers and Japanese White-Eyes)

The bright yellow-green bird perched on the park tree is actually a Japanese white-eye. It's called "mejiro" (white-eye) because of the white rim around its eyes. The Japanese bush warbler, which sings "ho-hokekyo," is a rather plain green. Because it's very wary, it rarely appears in front of people. This is an Ito-ya exclusive tenugui (Japanese hand towel) in collaboration with Kamawanu. It's dyed using "chusen," a unique Japanese dyeing technique that has been practiced since the Meiji era. This traditional dyeing technique results in beautiful dyeing on both sides, and each piece is carefully finished by artisans. The way the fabric softens and the colors gradually change with use is one of the unique charms of a tenugui. It can be used for various purposes such as a handkerchief, scarf, dishcloth, dish towel, placemat, or lunch box wrap.
