2026 is the Year of the Horse! What image comes to mind when you think of horses? It's said that there are over 200 different breeds! While size, coat color, and mane length vary greatly depending on the breed, here's just a brief introduction. This is an Ito-ya exclusive tenugui (Japanese hand towel) created in collaboration with Kamawanu. It's dyed using "Chūsen," a unique Japanese dyeing technique that has been practiced since the Meiji era. This traditional dyeing method results in beautiful dyeing on both sides, and each piece is carefully finished by skilled artisans. The way the fabric softens and the colors gradually change with use is one of the unique charms of a tenugui. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as a handkerchief, scarf, dishcloth, dish towel, placemat, or lunch box wrap.
